  • To the principle of this school,

I've seen a lot of irrational decisions made my the people leading our public schools, but after reading the article about Alexa Gonzalez; I'm more outraged than I've ever been. The thought of taking that poor little girl and handcuffing her in front of her classmates is one of the most cowardly, pathetic acts I have ever seen by a principle. She's a child, and she's going to act like a child. But you decided to completely traumatize her in front of the people that matter most to her at that stage; her peers. If I was her parents, I would take it upon myself to ensure that you get what you deserve, either it be within the judicial system, or it be outside of it.

  • Common Sense 101 should be the immediate CE Program made mandatory for all leadership in this school and district. As Charlie Brown always said,
    " Good Grief ! ".

  • I'm developing zero tolerance for the fascist zero tolerance rules that allow incompetent administrators to bully children by having them arrested for something like a simple lapse in judgment. We don't have enough for the police to do in our cities other than arrest children? Pathetic! that the police didn't send the Principal back to his school to do what he was trained to do: educate. What did he teach that child? That adults can't discern a serious action from a temporary lapse in judgment? That adults are cruel? The mother should sue the entire school system. If I were a lawyer, I'd offer to do it for free. The Principal and anyone else who backs a fascist zero tolerance policy that supports arresting a non-violent, non-threatening child for a trivial matter should be fired and arrested for child abuse. I want an end to this inhumane treatment. I even once read about a 5 year old who was handcuffed and hauled off to jail from school for having a meltdown! What the hell?!

  • This place sucks, I wouldn't send my dog. What an outrage. http://edition.cnn.com/2010/CRIME/02/18/new.york.doodle.arrest/index.html?hpt=C1 Hope they sue for all they're worth. What a waste of our tax dollars.

  • There should be an immediate accounting for this complete outrage and the principal should be fired with prejudice. A resignation allows a weak and insensitive administrator who is not thinking in the best interests of students to go elsewhere and perpetuate other acts of intolerance and ignorance. A dismissal will mark this person for what they are, ineffective and over-reactive and keep them from doing the same damage elsewhere.

  • You gotta love ignorant and idiotic principles who are LEADING your kids....and these same loosers are the ones who dont want choice in schools and of course I am sure she supports the teachers unions etc etc...she should resign or better yet, should be arrested in front of the whole school for being STUPID!!!

  • Agreed. Traumatizing a 12 year old girl will only make her less likely to want to go to school. It will damage her future.

I can imagine a policy where the student is required to clean desks as part of detention. But arresting a student for this?

The principal should be removed, no question.

  • Amen to the above. Shame on you! That is completely disgusting. What did you learn while studying to become a principle? I think you should repeat your education starting at about a 12 year old level if the only solution you saw to doodling was sending a young girl to jail. How horrible.

  • I just want to voice my outrage on the case of the 12yr old girl who was aressted for writing on her desk. This is a request,I believe the Principle of this school should hand their resignation. What was this Principle thinking?
