  • im a 7th grader at powell jr high and ive been dissapointed that powell is gonna be closing and i think whoever thought of closing my school down has never thought of what the staff and especially the students and parents of the school think about the school closing. i think MY school shouldnt close because a lot of students and teachers loves the school. the teachers are very nice and supportive and very helpful. the students and the school are very friendly and they know what RESPECT and RESPONSIBILITY is. this school is also very educated. as a matter of fact im in accelerated math(algebra),ELP english,ELP Social Studies,AVID.......In the beginning of the school year i wasnt the very smartest in my classes but ever since i attended this school i have got my grades from a 3.0 GPA to a 3.8 GPA....and another example is my classmate who NOW has a 4.0 GPA.So yeah this school had helped me soo much..Also if THIS school is closing just because of reputation of gangs....keep in mind that i had said that the some of the students in this school are very friendly...this school isnt bad after all.... Now think of many young kids who were looking up to theyre older brothers and sisters so what they want to do is to attend theyre older siblings school but how are they going to do that if this AWESOME WONDERFUL school is closing down...Also look at all those people who either is a student or were a student at powell will miss and love this school... so i ask WHY OUR SCHOOL?! this had dissapointed a lot of teachers as much as students because after this school closes WHERE ARE THEY GONNA GO!? especially with the economy like this..... we had been doing good before all this news happened....the day i heard this i had to hear a lot of times throughout the whole days because of students who were surprised at this happening, from every period because of the teachers discussing it to us, and our parents who had just heard the news and are worried because it is the closes school to where they live or this is the only school they really knew and trust because some parents of the school had attended this school back in the day.....so yeah i have a lot more to say but im gonna let you guys think...i hope this help people see why this school shouldnt close. PLEASE DONT CLOSE POWELL!!!!! POWELL IS THE BEST!!!
