  • I attended at SGHS and SGMS both up until I had to move. I loved the school and the enviroment! It is a great school. The only problem with this school is SMOD! It can be a good thing for some and a bad thing for others. Some cant afford to buy clothes, but if students would dress "better" they wouldnt need SMOD. The SMOD code is too strict, especially with the tuck in your shirt even if its not long

  • i go to this schoool and i was hoping to be able to dress like i wanted but the school took away our freedoms and making all the kids wear SMOD wont change anything. The only thing the dress code is doing is making everyone look decent in school and as soon as the kids leave school were goin to dress like we want so the school should just make a lesser strict dress code but other than that its a pretty good school.

  • AT Southern Guilford certain kids are treated very disrespectfully. virtually ignored as if they dont matter, many of the teachers are the most disorganized uncaring teachers in the world. Losing papers, and saying they dont know grades things because of their computer crashing and utter non-sense. The few kids that get recognized are those the teachers or staff know personally via church etc., so if you dont live close to the school or are not a certain ethnicity you basically are labeled a trouble maker and irrevelant. The male teachers seem to give everyone fair treatment it is the female and older teachers that are disorganized and judgemental. I transferred in from a much larger school where the teachers recognized hard work even if you didnt have the best grades and they made recommendations and submitted your name to be in clubs and organizations based on work ethic and character. They actually took the time to get to know the student b4 they judged them. Not the case at Southern Guilford. I think they should fire the teachers and start from scratch!!

  • Southern is a great school. I was a student there, and briefly taught there a few years ago. The school is small, all the students are well known by their teachers and for the most part the students are respectful.

  • If kids didn't dress like idiots, this would not be a requirement. Kids are given freedoms, and of course some take it to extremes by dressing like gang members or street walkers to have their own "identity" something needs to be done something more than just SMOD stop whining read a book

  • i hate smod and to be honest it ruined my school year
i actually thought about dropping out and im in 11th grade!
i tried to ignore it but everyday it just got stricter and horrible to the point we couldn't even wear hood
when it was -0 degrees out
my family doesn't have a lot of money and i had to buy a lot of clothing so now we barley have any money left i hate it so much.

  • Staff attempted to take away as much freedom as they possibly could by enforcing a SMOD dress code and rules that were entirely too strict
