  • Please PLEASE do some research! Read the reviews written by the TEACHERS and staff on other sites to try and cover up! The mistakes they made trying to write positive reviews PROVE what a nightmare 157 is! "Assistance principal?! The position is ASSISTANT principal! Someone also wrote that this schools literacy coach is wonderful. They have NOT HAD a literacy coach in YEARS! Obviously those people who are satisfied with our childrens dwindling test scores and poor education are not aware of many things that do or do NOT exist in their own school! The school looks good from the surface but I know my child is not learning. She is way behind her friends who attend other schools. I can see for myself that this school has gone downhill under this principal's leadership. Just do the research. Talk to the staff. It's sad that so many people are fooled. If you are interested in school festivals and parties being fun then that's great. I am interested in my child's learning.

  • I feel Administration and the Parent Coordinator are on the same team working against our childrens needs. They are looking out for themselves and their jobs. They take advantage of the immigrant population. The coordinator always has an excuse. The principal is always passing out excuses. PTA President and staff need to be more aware of their rights. Parents need to ask why their child is not learning. How come my child cannot do their homework to do basic math? The main population of 157 are Mexican immigrants and their culture usually NOT ALWAYS finds it to be disrespectful to question "Authority Figures" like administration of a school. The parents I have spoken to are afraid to question them. I explained to them that state test show that our children are not learning. PARENTS SHOULD DEMAND ANSWERS.

  • I am a working parent and do homework with my child if it is even assigned. Something is terribly wrong. When I ask my child what did they do in school, the reply is Nothing. How can a teacher give out homework and not give a lesson throughout the day? My child is struggling at this school. This teachers and administration are more concerned with appearance then education. That is obvious. There have been 311 calls about how inappropriate they dress! They want to expand this school. I am personally making the time to go against it. The principal is a terrible leader. I will be taking my child out of there as soon as possible.

  • I have 2 children that go to this school. I review homework with my daughter IF she is given any at all and it is never checked by her teacher. I am sure of it. Her teacher seems more concerned about her inappropriate appearance than teaching the kids. There have even been 311 calls made about this and nothing has been done. After my son graduates I am pulling my daughter out of this school. This school is petitioning for expansion. I am totally against it especially with this principal and parent coordinator in charge.P.s. 157 is a disgusting example of a Brooklyn public school.
