  • In this lesson, students will write a comparison and contrast paper of the Baroque and Classical Periods in music.

  • Students will learn:

    * To research information about the Baroque and Classic Periods

    * To write down important facts

    * To write a comparison and contrast paper between to music periods

  • Materials Needed

  • * Music History book or Internet for research

    * Note cards to write down important facts

    * Pencils and Erasers

    * Pens and Whiteouts

    * Notebook Paper for final essay

  • Procedure

  • First, students need to choose a specific topic such as style of music or main characteristics in the Baroque and Classical Periods of music.

    Then, they will gather information and write a comparison and contrast essay on the topic they chose.

    The research and writing the essay will take longer than one hour. You can split the lesson into two class periods.

    You can also have the students do their research at home and write the paper in class.

    You can also grade them on the organization of their essay, sentence structure, paragraph structure, grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
